Last week, Congress voted to ban the import of radioactive waste to the United States. This was spurred by an attempt to ship 20,000 tons of waste from Italy. One of those who supported this was Tom Latham. Why does Tom Latham want the nuclear dregs of Naples? While we’ve long stopped wondering about Steve King’s sanity, it seems strange why someone who bills himself as being full of “Iowa values and common sense” as Tom Latham would want to turn the US into Italy’s radioactive garbage dump. But considering Tom Latham has already voted against motherhood, it’s not a surprise that he would try to turn the U.S. into the world’s nuclear dumping ground.
