Perennial Candidate George Eichorn Is Running Again
December 17th, 2009 at 02:11pm Geraldine
George Eichorn, who has lost bids for State House, State Senate and U.S. Senate, has now announced that he’s running for Secretary of State in his bid to become the Howard Stassen of Iowa. His press release attacks Mike Mauro for costing the State of Iowa the staggering sum of $12,000 in federal funding and the support of intellectual and political heavyweights like Betty DeBoef.
Mike Mauro has been a leader as Secretary of State, helping to finally achieve same-day registration and helping Iowa continue to lead the nation in voter turnout and insuring that every vote was counted. With Mauro’s continued strong leadership, it makes tough to justify any alternative, let alone a loser like George Eichorn.

Mike Mauro has done a fantastic job. Thanks to him we have paper ballots used in every county. Can you imagine if touchscreen voting machines had been involved in any of the very close statehouse races in 2008?

Didn’t he lose a run for House Speaker too?

Former Secretary of State Paul Pate might get in this race too, in which case Eichhorn would have no chance at the GOP nomination.
