Funk’s Science is Junk Science
December 16th, 2009 at 05:45am Geraldine
Dave Funk has come out with a pretty astonishing statement. Apparently, we have unlimited supplies of oil. The core of the Earth miraculously just creates unlimited amounts of oil. This goes against the grain of all scientific thinking that oil is a fossil fuel that comes from the heating of ancient organic materials. Funk denigrates this well-established part of basic geology by saying it has much validity as global warming. (Which is a bit like saying the belief that the sun rises in the east is almost as absurd is believing that the Earth is round.)
There’s very little to add here. But it’s refreshing to know that when every scientist on Earth is wrong, there’s a retired airline pilot from Runnells to set them straight.

Funk’s entire campaign has been pretty bizarre so far. Not only does he believe in unlimited oil, he changed his verbage on his website on taxes in October, going from supporting getting rid of all deductions on income to supporting a Project Destiny like tax on consumption for the first time, or….in his words….either. He simply cannot decide. Voters however are having an easy time deciding he should not be the one to face Boswell.

Don’t underestimate Dave Funk, he’s the only candidate running who believes we should go back to a 19th century interpretation of the Commerce Clause and the federal government’s powers. He’s like Clarence Thomas….but with more funk.

You comments take the gist of my blog completely out of context and you are clearly misrepresenting my position. My statement was, “If it is true that oil is formed from the hydrocarbons released from the Earth’s molten magna core, then we may very well have an endless supply of oil. It becomes just a technological challenge to drill deep enough to reach it.”
I did not advocate anywhere that the accepted geological science is wrong, but that instead an alternate theorie is out there, one that Russian and Ukrainian geological scientists have long believed about the real source of oil.

Welcome to politics Captain Dave!
Advocating ideas put forward by communists? Isn’t that what the Tea Party movement is against?
What’s next? Are we supposed to use Osama Bin Laden’s ideas on where to store our nuclear waste?
Hell no, not on my watch!
