I understand that he's mad, but does he really want to fight that hard for the right to get his ass kicked by Harkin?

I guess he figures that will increase his name recognition, but I don't get it.

since Fallon is no longer a threat, you can't slander him anymore. now you're searching for new people. sure, Eichorn probably won't win, but it's a little unfair to call him a sore loser. think about this: if you were running for a high profile office such as US senate and lost an election by 400 votes, there's a possibility you might be reluctant to just say "oh well" and concede gratefully. this situation deserves a little due process, so to speak, and that's all Eichorn is looking for.

[...] George Eichorn, who has lost bids for State House, State Senate and U.S. Senate, has now announced that he’s running for Secretary of State in his bid to become the Howard Stassen of Iowa. His press release attacks Mike Mauro for costing the State of Iowa the staggering sum of $12,000 in federal funding and the support of intellectual and political heavyweights like Betty DeBoef.
