But I feel that the way the legislative leadership brought this up relatively late in the session, trying to slip in a 14-page amendment with almost no debate, was less than ideal. It made it look like they couldn't make a case for this bill in broad daylight and were trying to sneak it in when no one was paying attention

The way this measure was introduced gave the Republicans a great excuse to whine to a corporate media that's never sympathetic to collective bargaining anyway.

I never thought Culver was seriously thinking about vetoing this bill. I think he was trying to distance himself from the way legislators brought it up, and frankly, I can't blame him.</description>
