Carroll Making A Comeback

March 12th, 2008 at 05:11pm Geraldine

Former Speaker Pro Tem Danny Carroll is running for Iowa House of Representatives again. Carroll, once labeled a rising star in Republican circle was decisively trounced by State Rep Eric Palmer in 2006. This was despite Carroll running a dirty campaign that included push polls and libelous mailings. Carroll was also discredited when it was revealed that he had taken part in a scheme to defraud an elderly widow.

Although Carroll may have some added credibility due to his support of Mike Huckabee in the Iowa Caucuses, it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a sleazeball and a swindler. If the best candidate the Republicans find for any race down to dogcatcher is someone with as little moral character as Danny Carroll, it shows the desperate straits that the GOP is now in.

Danny Carroll is a fine man and I know him personally. I really do believe that you have gotten all of the mileage you can out of your false claim on Danny’s character. It is widely known that Danny is morally upright and fights to defend the defenseless. If you feel compelled to do more name-calling toward Danny, make a mental note: When it gets so desperate that you have to resort to name calling, it is evident to all who read that you are losing. It is an old debate tactic called argumentum ad hominem. It means if you can’t win solely on your position on the issues, you attack the person in opposition, with whatever lies that you can muster up. Stick to the issues and let Danny’s character speak for itself.

Carroll is a sleaze. He cares little for the people of Iowa. Palmer has done nothing but help Iowans since getting into office.

These arent lies, they are facts that I have heard from multiple people in the Republican Party.

I have no doubt that Palmer will win decisively, once again, but your post, Mr. Doland, has motivated me to contribute to his campaign. If anyone else would like to, he is on Act Blue and there is a link on the century of the common Iowan.

As I said in my above comment, there is no need to name call. I would not call your candidate names or attack him. I have talked to Eric Palmer and e-mailed him personally. I think he is a very nice man. However, I disagree with several of his positions. I respect his right to have those positions, but respectfully agree. That is what politics is about. I thank you for your motivation to help yur candidate. That is what makes Iowa a great state and the United States a great nation, we have the freedom to do that.

In 2006 Danny lost by 700 votes. It is fair to say tha he was not “decisively trounced” by Eric Palmer.
